The supersaturated solid solution can be obtained by heating the single-phase alloy of solid solution with varying concentration to a certain high temperature and cooling it rapidly. The difference between it and quenching is that no phase change occurs during this cooling. The treatment of heating the alloy above the solubility line and cooling it rapidly to obtain the single-phase supersaturated solid solution is called solid solution treatment. The structure after solid solution treatment is in a metastable state. For some age hardened SMC FRP molds and austenitic FRP molds, solid solution treatment shall be carried out first, and then aging treatment shall be carried out to precipitate some hard phase particles (carbides) from the matrix. The strength, hardness and wear resistance of SMC FRP molds shall be improved through precipitation, so as to meet the service requirements of the molds.
